What's in the Box

The box is pretty standard really with pictures on the front and back, side give technical infromation

On opening the box you find a nice collection of cables and hardware: docking station, usb io sheild plate, esata cable, usb cable, power adapter, software disk and manual. Every connector/ cable required for this docking station to work via sub or sata.

The docking station is pretty simple really, and it very lightweight. The unit has a button at the front, to start the backups and small adapter around the sata connetors. This adapter can be removed for larger 3.5" drivers, and put back in place for the smaller 2.5" laptop drivers. Behind the sata connection is a plate for your inserted card drive to rest again, so when you place a hard drive in the docking station it slides into the connectors properly.

To the rear of the docking station are all the connetors clearly marked, sub connector, power on/off switch, power input & esata connector.

The drive unit does feel very light and almost too light, ie cheap, but there's not really much inside, apart from connectors for usb & easts. When you insert a hard drive this give it more weight, and sits on your desk nicely.

The best bit about this docking station, in my opinion, is that it's sata meaning it'll take both sized of hard drive with the need of extra adapter. Unlike ide drives that require different sizes for 3.5 & 2.5" drives. It is a matter of slipping a drive into the docking station, if using a 3.5" hard drive then you don't need the guide - if it's 2.5" drive then put the guide in first then insert the drive - simple.
